[HP Implementation Case] A certain medical institution in Yamaguchi Prefecture

Introducing a case where smartphone WiFi connection authentication was implemented using two-factor authentication with PSK and MAC address.

"We would like to link the nurse call system with smartphones and implement two-factor authentication for smartphone WiFi connection using PSK and MAC address." Initially, MAC address authentication was being considered for about 120 access points (APs). However, it is anticipated that the number of smartphones will eventually be around 300. If we adhere to this basic design philosophy, whenever there are changes to the MAC addresses due to adding smartphones or replacing faulty ones, it would necessitate the addition and modification of MAC addresses across all APs. Therefore, we propose using an L3 switch as the authentication server. This allows us to create an environment where, even when there are changes to MAC addresses, configuration changes can be completed with just one L3 switch.
